A Letter From Your AUFPA Board Representative

Parent to Families
Posted over 3 years ago .

Hello, Auburn Parents and Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 academic year! I hope this finds all of you in good health and your Auburn students adjusting quickly to being back on the Plains. For those with returning students, welcome back. For those of you with incoming first years, welcome to the Auburn family! When we dropped our son off on the 14th to start his sophomore year, it was exciting to see so many more people on campus than at the start of last year. Everything seemed as it should be, including the gridlock at Toomer’s Corner!

By the time you read this, Fall Family Weekend will be less than one month away. The dates this year are Friday, September 24 – Sunday, September 26. Details and the schedule of events for the weekend can be found here http://parentandfamily.auburn.edu/fall-family-weekend/.

Fall sports have already started, with women’s soccer kicking off their season with wins against Samford and #12 ranked BYU. Football kicks off the season September 4 at home against Akron. Congratulations are in order to all the Auburn student-athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics. The Auburn contingent brought home 6 medals, three of them gold. And of course, Sunisa Lee, who won the women’s gymnastics all-around gold, is an incoming freshman. Details on all fall sports and related activities can be found at auburntigers.com.

Covid-19 does remain an issue in the Auburn area and across the state. The outstanding leadership of Dr. Fred Kam, MD, medical director of the AU medical clinic, and his team guided the entire university community last year and their efforts continue for the 2021-2022 academic year. For more detailed information on this, as well as Dr. Kam’s latest update, please see the following: COVID-19 Resource Center: http://auburn.edu/covid-resource-center/

The start of the semester is always a good time to remind students of the wealth of academic support available at Auburn. Many useful tools can help your student succeed academically. Details can be found at http://academicsupport.auburn.edu/.
