Hello Auburn Families…. War Eagle!
I hope your student is off to a successful Fall semester. At Auburn, there are many free resources available to help our students make a positive turn. We are halfway through the Fall semester, so lots of time to strive higher.
Academic Calendar & Support Resources
The Academic Support Center hosts a variety of academic skill development programs that promote self-directed learning strategies and student success. Miller Writing Center is also a great resource to help your student become a better writer and communicator. Graduate and undergraduate peer consultants can help with any writing at any point in the writing process. Also, consider reminding your students to make appointments with professors and student advisors. They want to help students!
The complete Academic Calendar can be found here, with some key dates for the Fall semester being;
- October 4: Mid-term grade deadline
- October 13: Fall Break
- November 20-24: Thanksgiving Break
- December 4-8: Final Exams
Auburn Student Counseling & Psychological Services is a great resource if a student is struggling with anxiety, depression, or any type of mental health issue. Its mission is to provide comprehensive preventative and clinical health services to enhance the psychological well-being of individual students. This link will take you directly to their page https://scps.auburn.edu/
Getting Involved
Are you interested in getting more involved in Auburn University? If so, consider using your skills & interests by joining the Parent & Family Association. Applications, which can be found here, are currently being taken for Board of Director positions.
Also, if your student wants to get plugged in, encourage them to visit AUInvolve. There are over 550 organizations through AUInvolve to join.
Planning Ahead
It is also never too early to meet with a Career Counselor. Career Discovery and Success Center offers many great resources for students, including assisting students with finding jobs, regardless of whether they are a freshman or about to graduate There is also a “career closet” that students may take advantage of if they need interview clothes, which has great items students can select from.
If your student is graduating this Fall, Congratulations! All commencement information can be found here, and the new fall commencement ticketing guidelines are found here.
