Illness is an unfortunate part of life that impacts almost every student at some point in their academic career.
The Auburn University Medical Clinic provides high-quality, convenient health care Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm at 400 Lem Morrison Drive. The staff at the Auburn University Medical Clinic is ready to help your student if needed.
Handling the absence:
If your student misses class due to illness, they should contact each of their professors by email as soon as possible to notify them of the absence and provide medical documentation. Their absences will be considered excused with proper medical documentation. Here is a link to Auburn’s Policy on Class Attendance for reference.
If your student does not provide documentation to excuse their absence, opportunities to make up assignments will be at each instructor's discretion. Encourage your student to review their course syllabi for policies on attendance and unexcused absences.
Sending supplies:
It is hard for students to be on their own when they are not feeling well. There may be things they want, but don’t feel up to traveling. Consider using a grocery delivery service to send a care package to lift their spirits. A delivery with cough drops, soup, and tea may be the perfect remedy.
