Canvas Supports Mental Health

Posted about 1 year ago  in Campus LifeHealth & Safety.

Auburn University uses Canvas as its official learning management system. Your student uses Canvas daily to navigate their courses, whether online, hybrid, or in-person. Recently, this interface, familiar to Auburn students, gained a new feature.

A tab titled “Mental Health” is now located on the Canvas browser. A quick click on this tab provides instant information on how and where to access mental health support at Auburn. Contact numbers, website links, and emergency resources are all together in one easy-to-find place. The “Mental Health” tab results from a collaborative effort between Auburn’s Student Government Association, Auburn Cares, the Biggio Center, and Student Counseling and Psychological Services.

The Student Government Association has received feedback from students that many are unaware of the mental health resources available at Auburn or unsure how to access them. There also seemed to be some miscommunications or incorrect information about the availability of services.

As students get older, they are more responsible for making choices for themselves. As parents and family members, we offer support and try to make accessing the resources they might need more accessible. The goal of the mental health tab is to remove obstacles and make it easier for students to advocate for themselves and reach out for support when needed.
